'The Live Show' is back at the Mayfair Theatre!

" Then Moses came down from the Mount bearing two tickets in his hand and said unto those gathered ---'give up your tithes to the good people of Ottawa Sketch and enter into the paradise of laughter...seriously, this is some funny sh*t!' "

The cast of Ottawa Sketch have worked themselves to the point of exhaustion to come up with a new line up of sketches for our upcoming Live Show. Many of us went without food and water for days at a time to bring you the fruits of our comic transcendence. The new line-up will include some old favourites like the Chuck Chandler Show and Actors Anonymous as well as some newbies that will be a real treat! It will also include a pre-screening of our feature web series Locker Lives before it's June 10th premiere on the internet! So come and join Moses and his friends for a night of non-denominational humour that will leave you praying for more!

You can purchase your tickets in advance for $15 through Paypal by clicking the appropriate link below or at the door for $20. If you purchase your tickets online please print out your receipt as proof of payment and present it with your ID at the door. Any questions? Email us at: ottawasketch@gmail.com

The Live Show Follow-Up

' Welcome back old school Canadian sketch! Amazing show, congrats Ottawa Sketch '
' Ottawa sketch, funny as hell! Professional, amazing, an unexpected surprise for Ottawa '
'Amazing show and I like the venue, it's great to rediscover these old taverns and allow local talent to have a voice '
' Move over Rick Mercer, here comes Ottawa Sketch! ' - The EMC

Thanks to those who came out to our live show at the Elmdale in January! For those of you who didn't - shame on you. Here is a re-cap of what went on after the show:
  • Macy Gray ended up removing Aaron Neville's mole with scissors and then was taken away by security and sent to the Royal Ottawa. Looks like she won't be going to Miami anytime soon.
  • John - the back-up singer - was signed on by Aaron Neville for his upcoming fundraising concert in Mumbai
  • Immediately after the show, David Caruso's lawyers phoned Ottawa Sketch and threatened to sue us for copyright infringement of David's hair. Like J-Lo's posterior, that carrot-top-mop is insured!
  • The feature show of our webseries Locker Lives was picked up by a major television network which we cannot name. However all the roles will be re-cast and played by the actors from Saved By The Bell.
  • Two of our puppets lost their legs and are still looking for them...
  • Jeff Foxworthy realized that even he isn't smarter than a puppet and decided to go back to school. He will be starting classes in the fall at St. Pat's elementary.
  • After the show at the Elmdale, someone cut the cheese big-time. Luckily each member of the cast was wearing a Fart-Right-Anal-Strip, so everyone blamed the bartender.
We will be taking the same show on tour within the next few weeks - so stay tuned for more info on the dates, times and locations of our next show! And don't forget about our grand webseries launch this spring!!!

Thanks again to all for your enthusiasm and support!

Ottawa Sketch presents...The Live Show!

" An absolute must-see! The feel good theatre event of the year."
Dick Lasser - Variety Magazine

" I laughed, I cried, I left early "
Cliff Montgomery - The Globe and Mail

" irreverent and irrelevent "
Susan Andrews - Canada Today

Yes that's right, Ottawa Sketch's Live Show is coming up in January. It will be a spectacular event that combines live sketch comedy with pre-recorded scenes from our soon-to-be-giant-viral-hit webseries. Featuring our talented cast of out-of-work actors, some maladjusted melodramatic puppets and all the beer you can buy! It's knee slapping, roll-in-the-aisles comedy that you may find funny. So come check us out -there's a very good chance you'll have a decent time!

2 NIGHTS ONLY! January 12th and 13th 2011 - 8:00 PM
at the Elmdale Tavern (1084 Wellington street)
Tickets are $10 in advance or $15 at the door. For advance tickets email ottawasketch@gmail.com

Wanna know more about us? Check out our cast bios:

Sarah Argue: Sarah is one of the founding members of the group. Acting, directing, writing, producing, composing, paragliding, bull-fighting and deep sea diving are just a few of the things that Sarah has never done but hopes to do as a member of Ottawa Sketch.

Rachelle Casseus: Rachelle is one of Canada's first test tube babies. In fact, she still keeps her 'mother' on a shelf in her room. She credits her unusual upbringing with giving her a unique comedic perspective on life, "when your mother is a test tube and your father is a beaker, you just see the world differently".

JF Dufault: A prolific microbial geneticist, JF's chief concern outside of his work is racing chickens, "chicken racing is my life...I love chickens and racing them, but comedy's cool too I guess ". When not racing chickens or doing comedy JF keeps busy playing euchre.

Charlie Ebbs: Though not particularly funny in any way, Charlie considers himself a comic genius. Although never professionally trained, Charlie's artistic background is mainly centered on interpretive dance, which he tries to apply to many of the sketches to no avail.

Tim Finnigan: Author of many self help books, most notably 'Get Rid of Those Post-Pregnancy Blues' and piano prodigy from the age of three, Tim has appeared in almost every major network talkshow (as an audience member). Due to a restraining order, he is not allowed within 500 feet of Phil Donahue.

Stephanie Halin: Another founding member of the group and also a former Spanish contessa, Steph now lives with the stray cats on Parliament Hill. She states, "I've given up life at court for a simpler, more feline existence, though sometimes I do miss the parties".

Henry Kwok: Born in Hong Kong, Henry has a secret obsession for calypso music and island culture. A licenced veterinarian, Henry spends his free time drinking banana daiquiris and braiding his hair. Last winter he put de lime in de coconut and knocked up 'Miss Trinidad and Tobago 2009'.

Jen Rutherford: The youngest from a family of twenty, Jen prefers to spend her time alone and dislikes any form of group involvement, "I can't think of one member of the group I like working with. I hope I can make some money with this show so I can work by myself ". Jen's hobbies include bear-hunting and découpage.
